To Create a New Tool and Icon

The following procedure describes how to create a new tool and icon using the Component Manager.

Open the Component Manager.
Select a component from the Classes section.
Click the Create Tool and Icon button to display the Create Tool dialog.
Select the DGN Library where the new tool is to be stored.
Enter the name of the tool in the field above the class tree to the right.
Select a base class for the component tool.
Define the tool icon using one of the following methods:

Enable the Use component as icon option.

or
If you have created an custom icon, disable the Use component as icon option and use the Browse button to navigate to the directory where the icon is stored. You can also enter the path directly into the Icon Path field.
When finished defining the tool settings in the Create Tool dialog, click OK. The Microstation Customize dialog displays.
Use the Customize dialog to assign the new tool to a taskbar or menu.
When finished close the dialog and reopen your drawing from the File menu to continue with your drawing session.
